In Memory

Mia Tuten - Class Of 2000

Our Heavenly Father sent one of his loving daughters, to bless our lives when Mia Simone Tuten entered this life on December 20, 1982. Mia was born at Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Great Lakes, Illinois to Edward and Sarah Tuten.

Mia accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She created a dream board and had many positive aspirations listed but at the top of that list was to pray daily.

She was formally educated at St. Joseph High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and in 2004 she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Eastern Illinois University. Mia was employed as a staffing and operations supervisor after graduating from College and a Store Manager at Express until they closed. She pursued and achieved her certification recently and refocused her career on Human Resources.

Mia enjoyed life and understood those things which truly mattered.  She was not a stranger to kindness, compassion, and love.  She was always willing to lend a listening ear and kept a smile on her face. She loved spending time with her parents, family, friends, and her dog Pebbles.  She was an exceptionally selfless human being; ready and willing to help anyone in need. She was a sweet, kind, spirited woman with lots of passion for women’s empowerment and self-love. To know Mia is to love her. You couldn’t help feeling her warm energy because of her big beautiful heart and smile.

Our Heavenly Father called his daughter home on April 27, 2021. As we utter our final earthly “I love you” to Mia, we know that when the time comes for us all to meet again, she will be waiting to greet us at the pearly gates of heaven with a smile.

Mia is preceded in death by her Grandfathers William C. Tuten and Arthur T. Washington, her grandmothers Beulah Tuten and Marjorie Washington, her uncles Milton, Seth, and aunts Carol and Deloris. Although she was an only child, she leaves to cherish her memory her father Eddie her uncles Ron (Brenda) & Lemar, her aunts LaForest & Demetria, and also her mother Sarah and uncles Enos & Henry, aunts Margie, Brenda, Mary, Shirley, Latonya, and Melanie, many special cousins, other family, friends, and well-wishers.
