Obituary:

Adam P. Richards, age 39 of Kenosha, died on January 15, 2010 at United Hospital System - St. Catherine's Hospital.

Born in Two Harbors, MN on February 28, 1970, he was the son of Richard and Connie (Widmar) Richards.

After his family relocated to Kenosha, he attended St. Mark Elementary and was a 1988 graduate of St. Joseph High School.

On August 10, 1996, Adam was united in marriage to his true love, Karyn Kapplehoff, at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church.

The consummate history buff, Adam had been collecting military memorabilia since the age of twelve.  His love of history and gift for woodworking lead him to a successful career as manager of his parents' antique restoration business, Wood Doctors, located first on North Sheridan Rd. and later at 65th Street and 32nd Avenue.

After medical issues forced Adam into another line of work, he began his career with the City of Kenosha in 2007, and he enjoyed his work with the Street Dept. - Stormwater Utility Division.

An avid recycler, Adam scrapped for years, first counting on the extra money it brought, and later for the pure pleasure of it.  He and Karyn will long be remembered for their ability to find cast-offs, refinish them, and sell them at their annual barn sale.  He was a lifetime member of the NRA.  Adam enjoyed selling items on E-Bay and, in his remaining free time, also enjoyed hunting, shooting and camping.  Adam, Karyn, and their niece, Maggie, made everlasting memories together around a campfire.

Surviving Adam are his wife and best friend, Karyn; parents, Richard and Connie Richards; sister, Dawn (Ken) Jasionowski; mother-in-law, Geri Kapplehoff; several nieces and nephews; and his canine companions Wolfy and Sidney.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Sank and Gladys Richards, and his maternal grandparents, Frank and Josephine Widmar.

Funeral services for Adam will be held on Wednesday, January 20th at 10:00 AM at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Zion, IL.  A visitation for Adam will be held on Tuesday, January 19th  from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
