Brian A. Kapitan 1960 - 2017

With his family and friends by his side, Brian A. Kapitan, 57, of Racine, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 4, 2017, at St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee.

Brian was born in Kenosha, May 8, 1960, son of the late Anthony and Juliana "Jewel" (nee: Struhar) Kapitan. Brian attended St. Mark's Grade School, and graduated from Kenosha St. Joseph's High School "Class of 1978", and UW-Parkside with multiple majors.

He was currently employed with Allied Motion as Principal Engineer. Among other companies, Brian was employed with Getty's Manufacturing where he met his wife Laura Brooks. An accomplished musician, Brian wrote the music that was played when he was united in marriage to Laura on June 7, 1997 at the Kemper Center in Kenosha. He loved his standing reservation at Sebastian's every Friday where he enjoyed date night with Laura. Food and fine dining were one of his many passions. He enjoyed cooking delicious gourmet meals for family and friends.

Brian was a treasured member and administrator of the BCO (Burmese Cat Obsession) group on Facebook where he impacted people's lives around the world. He loved his Burmese kitties, Niles and Sophie. He will be remembered for his many passions, his love for planting hostas, playing the guitar and keyboards, his extraordinary computer and technical skills, and his compassion and generosity.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 20 years, Laura; his sons from a previous marriage, Steven of Fla., Jeremy of Madison; brothers, Gary (Carol) Kapitan of Kenosha and their children, Kristin of Schaumburg, Ill., Kevin (Jennifer) of Windsor, Colo., Michael (Audrey) Kapitan of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and son, Jesse; sister, Leslie (Jud) Spruce of Santa Rosa, CA and their children, Mandi and Jasmine; other relatives and many dear friends.

A special thank you to all the members of BCO (Burmese Cat Obsession) for their support and friendship. You are truly part of Brian's extended family.

Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Saturday, June 17, 2017, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Private family services will follow. Private entombment will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
