Charles Ward - Class Of 1974

Charles Raymond Ward "Chuck" Surrounded by family and friends, he died peacefully at home after a two and a half year battle with cancer on Friday, November 5, 2010. He will further be remembered by his wife Cathleen "Cathy" Ward (nee Crowley) and his children Bridget (Paul) and Colin, Cathy's parents Ray and Muriel Crowley; brothers Edward (Cathy), Jack (Margaret), and sister Colleen (Tom) Kennedy. He will always be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and friends. Chuck's numerous professional and community service involvements encouraged friendships with many people from all walks of life. His professional career includes the Milwaukee County Parks Chief of Administration and External Affairs; Discovery World, Pier Wisconsin, SV Denis Sullivan; Director of Operations at Milwaukee World Festivals; Milwaukee Brewers Director of Operations; Milwaukee County Stadium Manager; and Milwaukee County research Analyst. His philanthropic and community efforts included President of Milwaukee Irish Fest; Founding brother and Entertainment Director of Milwaukee Irish Fest; Leader of Blarney Irish Folk Band; 2009 Irishman of the Year, Shamrock Club of Wisconsin; President and Vice President of the Shamrock Club of Wisconsin; Founder of the Great Irish Open, whose proceeds went to support peace and reconciliation efforts in Northern Ireland; Honorary Member of the Saint Patrick Centre in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland; President of Positively Pewaukee and creator of the annual event Taste of Lake Country; Member of the Third Ward Board; President and founder of the Friends of Lakeshore State Park, helped with the master planning of the Milwaukee Lakefront. Memorial may be made in his honor to the family of Chuck Ward. Chuck had an optimistic and a positive outlook toward life, even while darkened by cancer. Arrangements by JOHN J. CLARK, ASSOCIATE
