ELGIN - Daniel E. Koessl, 63, of Elgin passed away on November 5, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born on August 16, 1954 in Kenosha, WI the son of the Robert and Lynette Koessl. Daniel had worked as a Truant Officer for Kane County 29 years, touching the lives of many individuals. He coached baseball for 29 years at St. Edward, Burlington Central and Larkin High School. He was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church in Elgin. Survivors include his wife of 38 years: Susan Koessl; three children: Donald (Hilary) Dowell, Ryne Koessl and Ashley Koessl; three grandchildren: Lauren Dowell, Charlie Rose Koessl and Aaron Edward Koessl; his father: Robert Koessl; siblings: Craig (Robin) Koessl, Cindy Iannetta and Stacey Pardikes; his mother in law: Emily McCullough; along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother: Lynette Koessl; his father in law: Charles McCullough. Funeral mass will be held on Friday November 10, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Laurence Catholic Church, Elgin, with Rev. Andrew Mulcahey officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-9:00 PM at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, and on Friday at the church from 9:15 AM until the mass.
