Obituary:

James R. ?Jimmy Mac? McGovern, age 55 of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at United Hospital System Kenosha Campus. Born in Kenosha on March 18, 1950, he was the son of the late Frank P. ?Mac? and F. Joyce (Rosing) McGovern. On May 21, 1994 at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Kenosha, Jim married Beth A. Donaldson. He was employed with American Brass for 31 years until its closing in 1999. Jim then worked at LPI for a short time and drove truck for the Kenosha Achievement Center. At the time of his death he was employed with Visual Pac in Waukegan, IL. Jim attended St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School and was a 1968 graduate of St. Joseph High School. He was a member of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Jim was an enthusiastic coach for the St. Thomas/Mt. Carmel CYO football and baseball teams, and coached the First National Bank Optimist Little League Team for many years. He also served his church as an usher for Mass, and as a volunteer in numerous capacities for the festival and for bingo. He was a member of the Steel Workers Union at American Brass and volunteered in many of the social programs. ?Jimmy Mac? will be remembered as an ardent fan of the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, NASCAR and Notre Dame. He was particularly fond of the time he spent with his family up north fishing and grilling ? or telling someone how to grill. Who can forget Jim?s mean batch of chili? And, no one will forget his quick wit and contagious sense of humor. Survivors include his wife, Beth A. McGovern of Kenosha; his 3 children: Keith (Shawna) McGovern, Kimberly (Michael) Rhodes, and Katie (Justino Diaz) McGovern ? all of Kenosha; his 6 step-children: Carrie (Dan) Moran of Hainsville, IL., Susan (Paul) Alfano, Kris Decker, Roberta (Justin) Schaubel, Douglas Behringer, and Rachele McGill ? all of Kenosha; 16 grandchildren; 2 brothers: Terry (Pat) McGovern and Robert McGovern ? both of Kenosha; and 2 sisters: Barbara (John) Milisauskas of Kenosha and Marilyn (Edward) Epping of Mitchell, IN. Jim will also be greatly missed by his 8 nieces and nephews and 8 great-nieces and nephews.
