Timothy Gerou - Class Of 1968

Timothy Gerou

Timothy Paul Gerou, 57, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and friend to many, passed away peacefully on April 13th (2008) of prostate cancer at his home with his loving family by his side.

Tim was born in Kenosha on June 20, 1950, the cherished only son of Kenneth and the late Grace (Middlecamp) Gerou.

He attended St. Mary Elementary, St. Joseph High School, earned his bachelors degree from St. Norbert College and his masters degree from Central Michigan University.

On December 26, 1970 he married Nancy Lynn Rothermel at St. Mary Church. They were blessed with three wonderful children, Jamie Lynn (Charles) Skendziel, Michael Paul (Tara) Gerou, and Kevin Paul (Genevieve) Gerou. He adored his grandchildren, Hannah, Grace, Charles and Ellie Skendziel, and Vance Gerou and a sixth grandchild, to the Gerou’s, due in July.

Tim was employed by American Motors Corp from 1973 to 1989 in Kenosha, Southfield, MI and Evart, MI. Most recently he was partner, general manager and VP of Operations at VELVAC Inc. in New Berlin, WI, retiring in 2006. He treated his co-workers at VELVAC as though they were family, and in turn he was well respected by them.

Tim will be remembered as a loving, compassionate and gentle man filled with quiet strength.

Endless hours were spent helping, fixing and building things for his family, working in the yard, maintaining his and everyone else’s cars. His passion was golf and he played as often as he could. His golf buddies were among his closest friends.

Playing the guitar was an everyday pleasure for Tim, one that he passed on to his two sons and now a granddaughter as well. Some of his fondest memories are playing in a band with his best friends in high school. Oh, the stories he told! They still got together and played now and then.

Fatherhood came easy for Tim. He raised his kids with a gentle hand, never raised his voice. He was always available in every way. He taught by example and they returned the love 100 fold. They simply adored him.
