John Allen Yacukowicz, 75, formerly of Mequon, Wis., passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, in Boise, Idaho, after a long and courageous battle with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).
Born on August 13, 1949, in Kenosha, Wis., John was the son of John and Alice (Thomas) Yacukowicz. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1967 and earned his degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1971. In 1986 he received a masters degree in Business Administration from Marquette University. John owned Thermo Dynamic Systems for more than 20 years and dedicated over 40 years to the HVAC business in and around Wisconsin.
John loved sports. He spent his high school and collegiate years playing football as an offensive guard. His talent and love of the sport propelled him to play in a semi professional league with the Delavan Red Devils.
He was an avid golfer and was fortunate to play on some of the most renowned courses in the USA. His favorite places to visit were Door County, Wis., and the Sawtooth Mountains in central Idaho.
He is survived by his wife, Olivia; his sons, Ryan and AJ; his stepchildren, Sarah Townsend and Will (Kay) Townsend; his grandson, Jackson Townsend; his sister, Patricia Moore and brother, Peter (Susie) Yakowicz; nieces, Julie Reed and Sallie Yakowicz; nephews, Chris Moore, Evan and Jack (Rylee) Yakowicz; and great nieces, Alyssa Reed and Millie Yakowicz, along with several step nieces and nephews and many aunts and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Erik as well as his beloved dog, Lambeau.
John had a larger-than-life personality and a witty sense of humor. His kind spirit, generosity and compassion touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends and all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 19, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Pavilion at 220 Old Green Bay Road, Kenosha.
