Diane M. Willems, 63, of Lancaster, Pa., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012. She was married to Robert J. Willems (St. Joseph High School, Class of 1964) on May 22, 1971 over 41 years. Born in Kenosha, Wis., she was the daughter of the late Matt and Hazel Quirk Bain.
She was a graduate with high honors from St. Joseph High School, Class of 1967 in Kenosha where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She then graduated from Kenosha Technical Institute in 1968 as a Medical Assistant. She then worked for Drs. Welsh, Davis and Wilson and later for Dr. Kobro at Town and Country Animal Hospital, where she frequently assisted in surgery.
Diane had grown up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and loved the horses and cattle. Because of this, she thoroughly loved Lancaster County with its many farms, silos, barns and cattle. She enjoyed seeing the Amish farmers working in the fields with teams of horses because her father knew how to hitch a team and drive it. She also loved Amish quilts and cooking.
They had also lived in Kennebunk, Maine, Brentwood, Tenn., Kansas City, Kans., Sugar Land, Tex., and Omaha, Nebr.
Diane attended Civil War reenactments with her husband and toured historic homes and plantations in Texas, Nebraska, Tennessee and Kansas.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brothers, Roger Bain of Akron, Ohio and
Allen Bain of Dallas, Tex.; and by her sister, Marlene Pierce of Phoenix, Ariz.
