Ken Ade (1964)

Dawn married in June of 1971. In late 1973 she was diagnosed with Hodgkin Disease. She submitted to two major surgical operations along with a series of radiation treatments in early 1974. This left her weakened, of course, but with a strong resolve to not let her condition control her life. In this she was, as in everything she committed to, successful.

She experienced three episodes of intense illness, lasting several weeks, as a result of her treatment.  The treatment was experimental at the time but we feel it extended her life by 12 years.

Her life plan included having children.

Not wasting any time, she had our son in late Summer 1975 and our Daughter in 1978. She, as most women, was the most important person in her children's lives.

Although she died when Betsy was 9 and Lucas was a few weeks shy of his 12th birthday, she was the model from whom they learn the most. The adults her children have become honor her memory by mirroring her many strengths.

The kids luckily married a step-mother who both gave clear guidance with a mother's love and always welcomed, honored and included Dawn's memory in our lives.

Dawn's Children and grandchildren (5) maintain a close relationship with Dawn's family, all of whom have been completely welcoming of their new Mom and Grandma.

Dawn was a most marvelous wife and mother.

My wonderful niece Dawn.  Great to read this "in memory " of her, submitted by Ken. I think of her often.  Janice Wilson Huxhold
