Mary M. Gerou, 72, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, with her loving family at her side. Mary was born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 2, 1948.  She came to Wisconsin as an infant. Mary was educated at St. George School, St. Joseph’s High School, and received her teaching degree from UW Milwaukee in Early Education.

On January 23, 1971, in St. George Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Frank J. Gerou. Mary was a devoted educator, teaching at the KUSD HEADSTART Program, and later at St. George School, and St. Mark’s School. She had a lifelong passion for working with and educating children. Mary was a member of St. Elizabeth Parish. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing cards, watching documentaries, and British films. In her earlier life, she did ceramics, crocheting, knitting, fishing and gardening.

Surviving are her loving and devoted husband, Frank; their two sons, Joseph Gerou, and Christopher Gerou and his wife Violet; her brother, Robert Herrmann, of Somers; her grand-dog, Wrigley; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Herb and Nadine Gerou, Mary Gabor, and Marsha Lucas. Her nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends also survive her. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Margaret (nee: Zeihen) Herrmann, sister-in-law, Shirley Bartram, brothers-in-law, Tom Gerou, James Gerou, and Larry Gerou, Harold “Ace” Lucas and former brother-in-law, Sandor “Alex” Gabor.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Sgt. B. Valeri of the Kenosha Police Department, Dr. Leena Joshi, and Dr. Rodrigo Mata for their many years of compassionate care of Mary.
