1947 - 2017


Donald Alexis Martin, 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Nov. 15, 2017.

He was born in Kenosha on May 19, 1947, to Peter and Mary Martin, the youngest of four siblings, Peter, Judy and Roger.

Don attended Holy Rosary Elementary and graduated from St. Joe's High School in 1965. He is inducted into the St. Joes Hall of Fame as in individual (football, baseball, basketball, coach) and as part of the 1965 Baseball State Championship team.

In 1965, he enlisted in the United States Air Force (65-69') and in 1966-1967 was stationed in Binh Tuy Air Base, Vietnam. He was Honorable Discharged in August 1969.

Returning in 1969, Don enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside graduating in 1974 with a major in Sociology and teaching certificate.

From 1970-1975, he coached football, baseball and was a trainer and intramural director at St. Joes High School. He was a substitute teacher in KUSD from 1982-1986.

In 1977, Don became a fireman on the Kenosha Fire Department. He was promoted multiple times and at 50 years old with 20 years experience in 1998 was promoted to Fire Captain Station 5, the Emerald Palace on Washington Road and 22nd Avenue. He loved every minute of it.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (1968) and father, Peter (1995).

He is survived by his four children, Samuel (Amy) Martin, Anne (Rese) Hodges, Christine (Rick) Clouse, Andrew Martin and grandchildren, Matthew and Madelyn Martin, Alyssa Slater and Andrew Sebena, Dylan, Tianna, Ashley, Harice Hodges, Meadow and Willow Clouse and his great grandchildren, Arabella and Nahla.

The family would like to thank the local doctors, nurses and staff at St Cat's Hospital, Captain James Lovell Veterans Affairs Hospital and Heartland Hospice for their care.

The family would like to cordially invite friends and family to Marina Shores, 302 58th Street Kenosha, WI on Sunday Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. for a memorial luncheon.

Joseph Martino (1965)

So sad to learn Donnie passed away. We were close and favorite friends at St. Joe’s and a few years after. He was a great leader and teammate (quarterback and guard).
