James J. (Jim) Marshall, 39, 8600 15th Ave., died Monday afternoon (May 4, 1987). He was pronounced dead at 4:12 P.M. at Westosha Emergency Center, Silver Lake. The son of James A. and Lucille (Brockhaus) Marshall, he was born June 6, 1947 in Kenosha. He was a life long Kenosha resident, attended local schools, and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1965. He also graduated from Gateway Technical Institute and had attended the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and Carthage College. As a police officer, he joined the Kenosha Police Department on Feb. 21, 1969. He was also a licensed private investigator with the Kenosha Private Police. An active member of the Kiwanis Club of Western Kenosha, he was responsible for security at the annual Cohorama fishing derby. During the Vietnam War he served in the U.S. Army from March 16, 1966 until March 14, 1968, with one year of overseas duty. He was the recording secretary of the Kenosha Professional Policeman's Association. Aa a police officer he received three commendations. One for outstanding devotion to duty by carrying a 91 year-old woman from a burning house. One for subduing a man threatening to detonate a bomb wired to his car in a city park and one for rescuing a suicidal man who fled a local hospital and plunged into Lake Michigan. He attended St. Mark Catholic Church and was a member of the Kiwanis and Elks clubs, Veterans of Foreign Wars Junker-Ball Post 1865, Kenosha Professional Police Protective Association, and the Wisconsin State Police Protective Association.
