Daniel Alfredson

Daniel "Dan" J Alfredson

Daniel “Dan” J. Alfredson, 69, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Thursday, July 21, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on October 20, 1946 to the late Ralph H. and Lucille M. (Schomaker) Alfredson in Menominee, MI. He was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from St. Joe’s High School.

Dan entered the US Army on May 12, 1966 and was honorably discharged on May 11, 1972.

Dan worked as a machinist at Twin Disc for 30 years.

Dan’s yard was a source of comfort and pride. He had a bit of a green thumb, tending to his flowers and garden. He hosted many parties over the years at his northside home, starting with swimming and volleyball, but always ending with fire, beer and embellished stories. For years, Dan enjoyed his summer getaway on the White River in Wautoma; fishing, relaxing, puttering and spending priceless time with his mother and visiting relatives. Another favorite pastime was pinochle. He teamed with his brother Tim against the “girls”, grandma Lu and partner Doris Wohlgemuth. The boys didn’t fair so well! Dan really enjoyed bowling with his friends in the Wednesday Senior League at Sheridan Lanes. Most entertaining were the post-game bull sessions, offering solutions to the world’s problems, over beer and cocktails. Dan was a little rough around the edges, but he was a hard worker, a dedicated family man and a good friend to many.

Dan was a proud grandpa to his four grandchildren. He enjoyed visiting Minnesota to watch them play baseball, soccer, softball, watching theater productions and playing marbles. He always brought jars of homemade jelly that the kids could not get enough of, as well as jars of quarters to be spent at the corner store. Grandpa Dan will be missed dearly.

Dan is survived by his daughters Angela (Brett) Lobben and Erica Alfredson of the Minneapolis area, his brothers Tim Alfredson of Kenosha and Gary (Sue) Alfredson of Marshfield, his grandchildren Clay, Meta, Beck and Stella, his nieces Mindy, Janel, Robin and Ashley and a long time dear friend Geri Smith.

He is preceded in death by a brother Thomas.

A Celebration of Dan’s Life will be held on Tuesday, July 26th at Sheridan Lanes (1120 – 80th St) from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
