Charles Zarletti

KENOSHA - Charles Anthony 'Chuck' Zarletti, 60, died Saturday, December 18, 2004, at Aurora Medical Center following a year-long battle with cancer.

A lifelong resident, he was born in Kenosha on October 27, 1944, the son of the late Charles and Lena (nee: Ventura) Zarletti. On May 27, 1967, at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, he married Nancy Caryn Peil.

He attended St. Mary's Elementary School and was a 1963 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. While at St. Joseph's, he was a two-time State Champion Wrestler. As a young man, he was briefly employed as a Route Salesman with Pepsi-Cola. Upon completion of his Apprenticeship, he became a Journeyman Painter for Ruffalo Decorating. He, along with his wife, co-owned and operated Fun Products of America and Beer Meister of Virginia.

He also owned and operated Zarletti Painting. In 2004, he retired from Ruffalo Painting Company, due to ill health.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church; Painters Local #934, where he served as an executive board member; the Roma Lodge of Racine; and a former member of the Jaycees. In 2004, he, along with his teammates of the 1960-1961 wrestling team, was inducted into the St. Joseph's High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame. An avid fisherman, he was a Designer and Master Restoration Specialist. He assisted his children in the restoration of their homes; and along with his wife, enjoyed building, designing, and restoring their homes.

His hobbies included reading, gardening, planting and growing roses, traveling, and antiquing. His passion for food inspired a love for entertaining, cooking, and maintaining the culinary traditions of his family.

Upon his retirement, Chuck spent the last year woodworking and creating heirlooms for his family.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy C. Zarletti of Kenosha; two sons, Brian Charles (Mari Cucunato-Zarletti) Zarletti of Milwaukee and Kevin Zarletti of Kenosha; a daughter, Gina Zarletti of Racine; two sisters, Barbara (Floyd) Hart of Kenosha and Maria (Curzio) Caravati of Kenosha; and two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Anthony Zarletti.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2004, at 9:15 a.m. from the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720-39th Avenue, Kenosha. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 73rd Street and 39th Avenue, Kenosha. Interment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m.

Charlie was a nice guy and good friend.  I went through St Mary's then St Joes...
