1943 – 2011


Leon A. Rack, 68, of Kenosha was called Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011.

Born in Kenosha on April 18, 1943, he was the son of the late Leon and Thecla (Charaske) Rack. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he attended local schools and was a 1962 graduate of St. Joseph High School.

On Aug. 9, 1969, in Las Vegas he was united in marriage to Janice Champion.

For 43 years, Leon was employed with Kenosha Unified School District as a painter, retiring in July, 2010. In his younger years, Leon was employed with AMC and the family hardware store, Leon Rack Hardware.

Devoted to his family, Leon spent a great deal of time supporting his grandchildren in their hobbies, at their sporting events and being their chauffer. Leon had a great appreciation for old classic cars. Being such a car buff, he enjoyed attending area car shows.

Leon leaves behind many happy memories. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Janice; his three children, Michael Rack of Iowa City, Ia., Stephen Rack of Pleasant Prairie and Michelle (Tony) Kisonis of Kenosha; his loving grandchildren, Anthony, Sheyenne and the twins, Evan and Ava Kisonis; his sister, Joan T. Rack of Milwaukee; and several loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Lee Kisonis; and his in-laws, John and Martha Dabulski.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2100 75th Street, with Pastor David Pagel officiating. Entombment will follow in All Saint Mausoleum. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2100 75th St., Kenosha, WI 53143 would be appreciated.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Hospice Alliance, Inc. for the love and compassion given to Leon in his final days.
