Kenosha police struggled Sunday to find an explanation for a baseball bat attack that claimed the life of a well-known softball player.

Arthur Llanas, 43, of 1352 54th St., Kenosha, died from crushing head and chest injuries suffered when he was beaten with a bat late Saturday night.

Llanas, a Chrysler Corp. employee who played ball and tended bar for Finneys Lounge, was pronounced dead at St. Catherines Hospital early Sunday morning.
