In Memory

Scott Seidl - Class Of 1980

Scott Seidl

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend and beloved Executive and Artistic Director, Scott Seidl.

Scott joined The Augusta Players in 2017 and directed his first production with us the following year. From the moment he arrived, he was a force. He brought nearly five decades of professional performing arts experience and a boundless passion for building community through storytelling.

His career began in his hometown of Kenosha, Wisconsin, where he taught high school music, theatre, and choreography. From the earliest days, Scott was committed to creating opportunities for others to find their place on the stage.

His talents soon took him to national and international platforms: hosting Nickelodeon Double Dare tours, Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede, and the Miss International Pageants. He also served as a writer and associate producer for Nickelodeon and later took on major leadership roles in the entertainment industry, including tour management and administration for Aerosmith.

After years of performing, teaching, writing, directing, and choreographing, Scott sought a community where he could put down roots and we are forever grateful that he chose Augusta. He never stopped giving: to our artists, to our audiences, and to every person who crossed his path.

Earlier this season, I reflected on the giants who have shaped our organization: “Giants have come before me in this organization—pillars of advocacy, trusted guardians, and strongholds of community. I have no doubt that giants will follow.”

Scott was one of those giants. He grew this organization. He changed lives. He championed the arts in our city with a passion that will continue to inspire us for generations.

Scott brought us home.

Words feel small in the face of this loss. Please keep Scott’s family, his AP family, and all who loved him in your thoughts and prayers.

In honor of Scott, share joy. Hug your loved ones. Be kind. And, if you are of age and able, raise a glass of bourbon — a toast to a life lived fully and given generously.

With deep sorrow today and belief in the brighter days he helped build,

M. Amy Patton
