Obituary

Alice Marie (Bode) Herston, age 68, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2016 in Everett, WA, after a courageous yearlong battle with cancer. Alice was born February 19, 1948, in Kenosha, WI, the daughter of late Judge Harold and Lena Bode.
Alice grew up in Kenosha, WI and graduated St. Joseph High School in 1966 and attended Cardinal Stritch University. After college, she moved to Hawaii to teach, was married shortly thereafter and moved around to Germany, Labrador, Texas and Alaska, where she was a Special Education teacher for the Anchorage School District and retired in 2003 and relocated to Olympia, WA. She thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, and was always ready for the next adventure in her Airstream. Alice also enjoyed her time as a Mary Kay consultant, bowling, playing cards, spending time with her family, and trying her luck at the casinos. She will be sorely missed and remembered for her warm smile, her generous and caring heart and contagious laugh.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Wendy Ippolito and husband, Sal of Lynnwood, WA, and son, Nick Herston and wife, Debbie of Everett, WA; 3 grandchildren, Landon, Delaney and Katelin; her sisters, Ann Gausden of Scottsdale, AZ and Joan Hansen, husband Jeff, of Milwaukee, WI. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. Her parents and niece, Sara, preceded her in death.
A private memorial service was held on April 30, 2016 at Evergreen Funeral Home in Everett, WA. There will be a private graveside service for family and friends at St. George's Cemetery in Kenosha. Memorial donations in Alice's name can be made to pancan.org.
