Charles Schmitz

Charles "Chuck" Allan Schmitz

Jan 3, 1947 – Dec 4, 2025

Charles “Chuck” Schmitz, age 78, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away peacefully at Froedtert Hospital-Milwaukee on Thursday, December 4, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family. Born in Kenosha on January 3, 1947, he was the son of Roger and Gloria (née Greenwald) Schmitz.

Chuck spent his entire life in the Kenosha area. He was a graduate of St. George School (1961), St. Joseph High School (Class of 1965), attended Gateway Technical College, and earned his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

Chuck honorably served his country during the Vietnam War, entering the U.S. Army at Fort Campbell in August 1967 and receiving his discharge in August 1969. After returning from military service he was united in marriage to Rosalie Smith on April 24, 1971. Chuck then joined the family business, A.B. Schmitz Insurance Agency, founded by his grandfather and subsequently owned by his father. Chuck actively built and successfully led the agency for more than 50 years.

Throughout his life, Chuck was deeply engaged in the Kenosha community. His affiliations included various veterans associations, the Kenosha Recognition Association (KRA), Noon Lions Club, Swedish American Club, Kenosha Elks Club, and Kenosha Eagles Club. He also served as a founding member and board member of Southport Bank, as well as the Kenosha Twins. Chuck was a loyal Green Bay Packer fan.

Chuck will be remembered as a trusted and honest business partner whose integrity set the standard for everyone around him. Beyond his professional excellence, he was a mentor who generously shared his wisdom, guiding others with insight and encouragement. To his friends, Chuck was a source of joy—fun-loving, full of laughter, and always ready to brighten any room with his humor (and a perfect brandy Manhattan made with Korbel of course). His generosity knew no bounds, touching countless lives in ways big and small. Above all, Chuck cherished his family deeply, finding his greatest happiness in the love and time shared with them. His legacy is one of kindness, loyalty, and an unwavering spirit that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie; two daughters, Amy (Danny) Ikonich of Pleasant Prairie and Mary (Randy) Hoover of Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren, Andrew Curtis, Aleksandar Ikonich, and Mia Ikonich, all of Pleasant Prairie; cherished brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Chuck (Irene) Smith, Juliette Whyte, Tom (Gail) Smith, Greg (Sue) Smith, and Joe (Jean) Smith. Chuck is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a wide circle of friends and former clients.
