Antoinette Young - Class Of 1979

Antoinette Young

9-28-19 an earthly angel spread her wings and soared to heaven. Antoinette (Tonie, Pinky) Katherine Young.

Her journey on earth started 3-3-61 and was the fourth child (and fourth daughter) of Maynard W. and Katherine M. Young. Her sisters are Roberta (Bobbie) Young Cross, Jacalyn (Jacky) Young and Jeralyn (Jerrie) Young Koch.

In 1978 mom and dad acquired a new addition to the family. A bouncing 6 ft. 189 lb. bouncing baby boy, Howard. He was (and still is) a great brother. He was Tonie’s date to Sadie Hawkins and Sr. prom.

Tonie was born and raised in Kenosha and attended local Catholic schools. St. Therese and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School. She enjoyed high school and made many friends. Her nickname in high school was Pinky due to the fact that she was always using her pink pearl eraser. She went on to Parkside and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology.

She lived most of her life in Kenosha until she decided to take a leap of faith and start a new life in Kissimmee Florida where she lived with our brother Howard.

While in Kenosha she worked for Roger and Marv’s Super Value for over 20 years and never called in sick. Not once! In Florida, she continued working in the foodservice. She worked for Publix Grocery and for Wawa’s Convenient stores where she continued her perfect attendance. She was the “go-to person” if someone needed off or was sick. She was the “go-to person” with her family also.

Tonie has a niece, Kim, and three nephews; Rob, Brandon, and Stephen. She did everything with them when they were growing up. She would read to them, watch cartoons with them, play games, go to the movies. Well, you get the picture. She loved them and was like a second mom to them.

She enjoyed going on family vacations. She conveniently forgot her money when we would go to do something, so mom and dad would pay. I swear she came home with more money than when we left. Later on she enjoyed traveling with mom and Aunt Charlotte. We called them the Three Amigos. Her last trip was 2 ½ years ago when she came home for her nephew Rob’s marriage to Lydia Marie.

Tonie enjoyed being home. She didn’t have to go out all the time. She was an avid reader and she loved to bake. She collected angels and loved reading about her Irish heritage.

Tonie was preceded in death by her mother and father and her oldest sister, Bobbie.

She is survived by sisters Jacky, Jerrie and honorary brother Howard. She is also survived by her niece Kim and nephews Rob (Lydia), Brandon and Stephen and one great-niece Emma Marie and one great-nephew Chris.

She had a heart of gold and would be there for you when you needed someone to lean on. She had a cute laugh that once you heart it you would never forget it.

She was well-loved and will be missed. She touched the hearts of many and has left a lasting imprint on our lives.

Heavenly Angels, wrap your wings around her and welcome her home.
