John G. Skirmuntas, 67, passed away on Monday, June 30, in Wheaton Franciscan Hospital-All Saints Emergency Room, surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Germany, on Aug. 16, 1947, the son of the late Walter (Vladas) and Julia (Julija) (nee: Morkunas) Skirmuntas.

John came to the United States as a young boy. He was educated in Kenosha and a 1965 graduate of St. Joseph High School. On April 4, 1989, in Kenosha, he was united in marriage to the former Debra George. John had been employed by Snap-On Incorporated for over 39 years until his retirement. After retiring he worked at the Manheim Milwaukee Auto Mart. He was a former member of the Kenosha Jay Cees. John enjoyed bowling, collecting Snap-On tools, and was a WWII enthusiast.

Surviving are his wife, Debra; four daughters, Kimberly (Patrick) Hetchler, Melanie (Scott) Duberstein, Alexis (Cory) Kovacik and Jennifer Skirmuntas, all of Racine; eight grandchildren, Toby, Nathan, Jordan, Corey, Haley, Brady, Alexander, and Elizabeth; great grandson, Booker; and two sisters, Daina McGary, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Ausrele (Arunas) Liulevicius, of Lisle, Ill. His nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive him.

His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, July 9, at 6 p.m. with Fr. Steve Verghese officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday, July 9 from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family to establish an educational fund for his great grandson, Booker.
