John A. "Jack" Hessefort

1938 - 2017

John A. "Jack" Hessefort, 79, of Racine, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at Ascension-All Saints Hospital, Racine, Wis.

Born on Feb. 22, 1938, in Kenosha, Jack was the son of the late Albert and Dorothy (Scherrer) Hessefort. He graduated from St. Mary's High School, Kenosha.

From 1961 to 1967, he honorably served in the United States Army.

On July 6, 1963, at St. George Catholic Church, Jack was united in marriage to Susan M. Lindemann. They were blessed with four children.

Jack was a second generation owner of Hessefort Service, Kenosha, Wis. In his early years, he worked alongside his father, Al, and his brothers, Bob and Chuck. Jack and his brother Jim then owned the family business for many years. After forty-four years, Jack was proud to pass on his ownership to his son, Craig.

Jack was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, the Automotive Technicians of Southeast Wisconsin, and the Kenosha Car Club. He enjoyed going on vacations with his family. His fondest memories were of his yearly trips to watch the Green Bay Packers practice at Lambeau Field and the Wisconsin Dells to ride go-carts and the Ducks. He enjoyed working his crossword puzzles daily. He often inviting those around him to assist with the tough ones. He loved tinkering with his vintage Ford Thunderbird and took many road trips and participated in numerous car show with other members from the Kenosha Car Club.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Susan; his four children, Craig (Lisa) Hessefort, Jill (Frank) Mategrano, Julie (Fritz) Hueller, Keith (Heather) Hessefort; six grandchildren, Alyse (Dan) McBride, Amber Hessefort (fiancée, Manny Ramierz), Frank Mategrano Jr., Katelyn Mategrano, Katherine Hueller, Jack Hessefort; and four great grandchildren, Sarah, Anthony, Lawrence, and Erik. Jack is further survived by his brothers, Charles (Chuck) and James (Jim) Hessefort; sister, Dolores Norcross; sister-in-law, Judy Lindemann, and brother-in-law, Cy Lindemann; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Genevieve Hessefort; and brother-in-law, Donald Norcross.

Funeral Services honoring Jack's life will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Entombment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
