Daniel S. Winkler

We are sad to announce the passing of Daniel S. Winkler of Menominee, Michigan. He died at the age of 68 on Friday, July 21, 2023. He was surrounded by loved ones after an eight-year battle with Parkinson's Disease. He is survived by his wife Maureen, his daughter Dana (Devin), his brother Scott (Mary, Jenn & Marc, Ryan & Katie, Kyle & Jessica), his sister Sue (Jon, Tina & Kyle, Matt & Grace), his Uncle Ron and Aunt Dianne, as well as numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Joyce Winkler.

To know Dan was a gift. Dan was generous: he always gave more than he took. Dan was a public servant: he lived to serve others and continuously strove for the beautification of his communities. Dan was competitive: he played softball, golf and tennis into his late 50s - and never turned down the chance to play a game of 'bags'. Dan was creative: he could build almost anything, and there wasn't a project he wouldn't finish...except maybe electrical. He also transformed stained glass pieces into the most beautiful works of art. Dan was patient: he was calm throughout his forty years of public service, honing that skill during countless hours of early morning fishing. Dan was resilient: he found strength, support and partnership in his Lake Geneva & St. Augustine Parkinson's communities. Dan was loving: he cherished his entire Winkler & Atwater families deeply and supported them in all their endeavors. Dan will forever be remembered for all these qualities and more.
