Diane Charlene Wildrick, 73, of New Berlin, died at 4:13 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Diane was born on August 30, 1948, in Kenosha, WI, the daughter of Carl and Elsie "Rusty" Becker.
Diane earned her RN certification in 1969 at St. Mary's School of Nursing in Milwaukee, WI, her BSN in 1989 from UIS, and her master's degree (FNP) in 2000 from SIU-Edwardsville. From 1991 until present she worked for SIU School of Medicine, most recently in Pediatric Neurology. Diane was accomplished in her career having published many medical articles throughout the years. She used her medical knowledge to be active in community service and took several medical mission trips to Honduras, Tanzania, Haiti, Vietnam, and was a Camp CoCo nurse. Diane was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses, the American Epilepsy Society, and the Association of Child Neurology Nurses. She also had a passion for animals and over the years owned horses, dogs, cats, and volunteered with various animal organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Wildrick; daughter, Annmarie Wildrick; her son, Michael James Wildrick; and her parents.
She is survived by her partner for life, James "Jim" Grohne of Springfield; one grandchild, Maria Olson; three siblings, Karen Becker, Georgia (husband, Dave Lorenz) Becker, and Joe Becker; one niece, Carla Lorenz; one nephew, Jessie (Kiara) Lorenz; and several cousins.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham, 8855 State Rt. 4, Chatham. The family requests masks be worn for guests over age 12.
