With hope in the resurrection, we commend to the Lord Reverend Joseph G. Anderson who died on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the age of 77.

Born on January 20, 1936 in Racine, Wisconsin, Father Anderson received his preparation for the priesthood at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary from 1956-1963. Father was ordained to the priesthood on May 25, 1963 by the Most Reverend William E. Cousins at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.

Father Anderson began his priestly ministry on July 1, 1963 as an assistant at Immaculate Conception Parish in Sheboygan. On June 27, 1968, Father Anderson transferred to St. Therese in Kenosha as the assistant. Father Anderson enjoyed teaching at St. Joseph High School in Kenosha and at St. John Cathedral High School (1968-1973). He was then appointed Principal of St. Joseph High School, Kenosha on November 1, 1973. On June 14, 1977 he was appointed Principal at St. Catherine High School, Racine. Father was appointed as the Associate Pastor at St. Alphonsus, Greendale on November 13, 1979; a Pastoral Team Member at St. Alphonsus, Greendale on July 3, 1980; the Administrator and Team Member at St. John in South Milwaukee on January 25, 1983; as Pastor at St. John in South Milwaukee on January 25, 1989 and as the Associate Pastor at Holy Apostles Parish in New Berlin on June 16, 1998. He retired from active ministry in 2004.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Father Anderson will be celebrated at 6:00pm on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Holy Apostles Parish in New Berlin (16000 West National Avenue, 53151). Priest friends and former colleagues are invited to concelebrate, please bring an alb and white stole. Visitation takes place at Holy Apostles parish on Monday, afternoon beginning at 3:00pm and continuing until time for the funeral Mass.
