Reverend Darryl A. "Bit" Carr, Sr.

1964 - 2015

 

 

Reverend Darryl A. "Bit" Carr, Sr., 51, of McComb, Miss., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, following a brief illness.

Born on Feb. 3, 1964, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late LeRoy Carr. Sr. and Dorothy (Bardwell) Cotton. He attended local schools and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School.

He honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield.

Darryl was employed for 24 years as an over the road truck driver most recently being employed with Armstrong, Pittman and Winns. He also served as the Associate Pastor at St. Mary Free Will Baptist Church in McComb, Miss., under Pastor James Banks.

He is survived by his five children, Candice, Jasmine, Darryl, Jr., Alonzo and Michaela; his eight grandchildren; his siblings, Duane (Lisa), LeRoy, Michael, Brian (Cassie), Kim (Adrian), Orlando, Minnie, Alice, Sherrie and Lilly; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father.

A Home Going Service will be held on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at 12 Noon at Second Baptist Church, 3925 32nd Avenue. Interment with full military honors will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery. A visitation for Darryl will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
