Obituary:

Thomas R. Althaus, 59, died on November 26, 2010 at his home in Tucson, AZ surrounded by those he loved.

Born on September 11, 1951 in Evanston, IL, he was the son of Robert L. and Mary Helen (Hodgins) Althaus.

Tom attended St. Mary Elementary School and was a 1969 graduate of St. Joseph High School.  He received his Bachelors degree in English from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.  He went on to receive his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Arizona graduating Magna cum Laude.

Tom began his legal career in 1978 working for the Public Defenders Office in Tucson.  He later joined the Law Firm of Duffield, Miller, Young, and Associates where he spent a successful 28 year career as an attorney, before starting his own private practice.

His talent as an attorney was not just part of a job, but who he was.  He found humor in just about everything but remained compassionate and professional when performing his duties.

Tom was united in marriage to Tara Lynch on April 6, 1991 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tucson.

A brilliant mind, a photographic memory, and an amazing attorney, Tom's life was complete with he and Tara's Pine Top, AZ vacation home, fishing, the Packers, Univ. of Arizona sports, and finding buttons to push that you never even knew you had.

He leaves behind his beloved wife and partner, Tara Lynch Althaus and his trusted canine companion "Gus."  He is further survived by his his father, Robert L. Althaus; four brothers, Richard (Sue) Althaus, James (Patti) Althaus, William, and Timothy Althaus; and two sisters, Mary Martha (Bruce) Roders and Ann Marie (Scott) Carney.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Mary Helen and his sister- in- law, Cynthia (Sargent) Althaus.
