Obituary:

Dennis Patrick Graves, age 55, of Kenosha passed away on Tuesday (December 13, 2005) at his home. Born March 9, 1950, he was the son of Edward and Muriel (O?Leary) Graves, Sr. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he attended St. Mary?s Elementary School and was active in the Boy Scouts. He was a 1968 graduate of St. Joseph?s High School, where he was very involved in wrestling and stage crew. He also attended the University of Wisconsin ? Parkside. Dennis was a longshoreman from 1966 until 1986 when they closed shipping in Kenosha Harbor. He was a scuba diver on site when they built North Point Marina in Winthrop Harbor, Ill. assisting the crews in the placement of the boulders from under water. He also worked for 13 years at Mid-State Tubes, and for a brief period at Mann Warehouse. Since the longshore position was seasonal, Dennis was able to travel the world during the winters. He spent time in England and Australia, traveled throughout the United States and went diving all over the Caribbean. He loved the outdoors, motorcycle trips, camping, skiing, scuba diving, sailing and cooking. If anyone needed help, Dennis was always there to lend a hand and was usually waiting around for something to break. He loved to talk! But, be ready for a story because every time you asked Dennis a question, it would take 20 minutes to get the answer and you would know 10 times more information than you needed. He was a member of Longshoreman ILA Local #1315, the Kenosha Yacht Club and Divers Alert Network. Survivors include his parents: Edward and Muriel Graves, Sr. of Kenosha; his brother, Edward Graves, Jr.; his sisters: Colleen (Don) Brolin of Boulder, Colorado and Maureen (James) Gosser of Washburn, Wisc,; his special aunt, Mae Olinger; nephews: Edward A. (Dianna) Graves, Lucas Gosser and Curtis Gosser; a niece, Evangeline Graves; a grandnephew, Lance Schilling; and his grandnieces: Lauren Aker, Alissa Graves and Josephine Ruffolo. He is also survived by his longtime companion and soul mate, Carol Stanley as well as many other relatives and great friends.
