Reverend Jan Kieliszewski - Class Of 1965

With hope in the resurrection, we commend to the Lord, Reverend Jan Martin Paul Kieliszewski, who died on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the age of 66 at his residence in Cudahy, Wis.

He was born in Kenosha on May 20, 1947, the son of the late Martin and Lucille (VanLanduyt) Kieliszewski.

He was educated at St. Anthony of Padua Grade School in Kenosha where he was a priest son of the Parish. He attended St. Joseph High School (now St. Joseph Catholic Academy) for one year before entering the seminary. He then began his priestly formation at DeSales Preparatory in 1962, and continued his studies at Saint Francis College and Saint Francis de Sales Seminary from 1967-1973. Most Reverend William E. Cousins, Archbishop of Milwaukee, ordained Father Kieliszewski to the priesthood on May 24, 1973.

Fathers priestly ministry began June 12, 1973, as associate pastor, St. Joseph Parish, Fond du Lac. He served as associate pastor at St. Mark Parish, Kenosha (June 17, 1980-June 16, 1986), and St. Sebastian Parish, Milwaukee, (June 17, 1986-June 19, 1988). Father was appointed to his first pastorate on June 20, 1988, serving at Sacred Heart Parish, Fond du Lac. On June 21, 1994, Father was appointed pastor at St. Frederick Parish, Cudahy, and on June 20, 2000, pastor at St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Burlington. He served as pastor at St. Augustine Parish, Milwaukee, from June 20, 2006 until his appointment on January 14, 2012 as shared pastor at Nativity of the Lord Parish, Cudahy, and Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, St. Francis. He faithfully served the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and recently celebrated his 40th Anniversary as a priest.

Father Jan is survived by one sister, Nancy (Guy) LoCicero from Knoxville, Tenn. He will fondly be remembered by four nieces, Christine (Jeffrey) Bonnin from Kenosha, Elizabeth (fiance, Jeremy Stoyer and children) Grissom from Racine, ClaireAnne (Robert) Collins from Idaho Falls, ID and Mary Lynn LoCicero from Kenosha, as well as seven great nieces and nephews: Kendall, Rebecca, Andrew, Kyle, Ryan, Adam and Nicole.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one great nephew: Jonathan.
