Obituary for Mary Leitch (Crossin)

1945 - 2004

Mary Crossin-Leitch, 59, of Pleasant Prairie, died Wednesday (December 22nd, 2004) at Hospice House after a battle with cancer.
Born in Kenosha on Feb. 18, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Natalie E. (Fonk) Crossin. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she attended Durkee Elementary, St. James Grade School and St. Joseph High School. She was a graduate of Loretta Heights College in Denver and attended Marquette Graduate School.
On June 22, 1968, she married Michael D. Leitch at St. Mark’s Catholic Church.
She was secretary and treasurer of Leitch Printing. For 16 years she was a first grade teacher for Kenosha Unified School District. She taught at Southport, Bain, Lincoln, Vernon and most recently at Roosevelt Elementary. She helped to pilot the “Reading Recovery” program for Unified Schools.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and St. Mary Catholic Church.
She enjoyed knitting, reading, gardening, boating, sailing and spending summers in the family cabin on Snipe Lake in Eagle River.
Survivors include her husband of Kenosha; two sons, Michael A. (Michelle) of Kenosha, and Christopher (Karlene) of Oshkosh; a brother Dr. James A. (Mary Beth) Crossin of Indianapolis; and two sisters, Cathleen (Gerald) Gross of Racine, and Carol C. Whitely of Denver.
Proko Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.


LEITCH: Visitation for Mary Crossin-Leitch will be held on Monday, December 27th, at the Proko Funeral Home and Crematory, 5111-60th St., from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be private on Tuesday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church followed by entombment at All Saints Mausoleum. Memorials to the Missionary Community of St. Paul the Apostle in Racine, Hospice Alliance in Kenosha, or the UW Comprehensive Cancer Center in Madison will be appreciated by the family.
