Jane Heller (Whyte) - Class Of 1962

Jane Heller (Whyte)

Jane Heller Whyte

February 08, 1944 - October 13, 2013

Jane H. Whyte, 69, of Kenosha passed suddenly at her home on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013.

Born in Kenosha on Feb. 8, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Robert and Margaret (Tully) Heller, Sr.

Jane attended St. James Elementary School and was a 1962 graduate of St. Joseph High School. She graduated from Marquette University Dental Hygiene School in 1964. After two years in San Francisco, she worked for her father until his retirement in 1989.

On February 4, 1967, she was united in marriage to William R. Whyte at St. James Catholic Church.

Jane was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Kenosha Country Club. She enjoyed her weekly bridge games with friends at the Kenosha Country Club. She served many non-profit organizations in a volunteer capacity especially St. Joseph High School and was a founding member of the PALS Group and a Sting volunteer. Others included the Kenosha Achievement Center, the Catholic Junior League, the Carol Beach Property Owners Association (past president), Kenosha County Girl Scouts, and Frank Elementary School. She also coached volleyball at St. Marks when her girls were students, not because she knew anything about volleyball but without a coach there was no team.

Janes life was devoted to her daughters. She attended every sporting event, dance recital, chaperoned every field trip and high school dance, and opened her home to all of her daughters friends. It was an open invitation to hang out at the Whyte house every Friday and Saturday night. When she became a grandmother, she continued that same devotion with them. She was a daily presence in their lives and took care of them as they were her own. She had a knack for making all the grandchildren feel like they were her favorite.

Jane was a voracious reader and an amateur historian of her beloved Kenosha. You may have seen her or may have been stuck behind her driving 4 mph down 3rd avenue with her arm out the window pointing out who lived where over the last century.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Bill; their two daughters, Heather (Andrew) Connolly and Molly (Jon) Highman; grandchildren Drew, Patrick, Thomas, and Aryanna Connolly and Payten, Maddex, Emily, and Anna Highman; her six siblings, Dr. Robert Buzz (Mary Kay) Heller, Katie (Barry) Wojtak, Dr. Margaret Heller, Patte (Bill) Bleil, Thomas (Debbie) Heller, and Annie (Dan) Weatherbee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Vivian Whyte.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, 7117 14th Avenue. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for Mass. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery. A visitation for Jane will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 16th after 4:00 p.m. Memorial Remembrances to St. Joseph High School Endowment Fund or St. Joseph Catholic Academy, 2401 69th Street, Kenosha , WI 53143, would be appreciated by the family.
