RACINE - Lois Ann 'Lu Lu Belle' (nee: Blankley) Houk passed away. Lois was born in January 19, 1944 daughter of the late Charles F. and Irma M. (nee: Rosing) Blankley of Kenosha. She lived in Kenosha until 1983.

In 1953 she entered Holy Rosary Elementary as a fourth grade student, the first year the school opened. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1962. She began working at Lepp's Clothing Store during high school and continued there for many years. In 1976 Lois began working at Southern Wisconsin Center and continued there for 23 years until her retirement in January 1999.

In 1983, in Racine she was united in marriage to Dennis M. Houk. She was a resident of Racine (Town of Mount Pleasant) until her death. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

She was an active member of the Belle City Clown Club of Racine, participating in the 4th of July Parade and Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army at Christmas time in Racine. Her clown name was 'LU LU BELLE.'

She was a long time Cubs fan and a Green Bay Packer fan. Her favorite holiday was Halloween as evidenced by the many decorations she put up, and costumes she made for herself and family. She was at her best at this time of year. Lois was an accomplished seamstress, making the clown costume she and her husband wore: and every member of her family and many others can attest that she could mend a pair of jeans like no one else.

Lois is survived by her husband, Dennis, a son, James 'Pickle' Wilke of Panama City, Fla., a daughter and son-in-law, Anne (Louis) Savaglio of Beloit, stepson, Joseph (Sarah) Houk of Pewaukee, three grandchildren; Ashley Brittany, and Adam Wilke of Portales, N.M. She is also survived by five brothers; J. Thomas (Catherine) Blankley, Charles Blankley Jr., Bruce Blankley, Giles Blankley all of Kenosha and Philip (Shirley) Blankley of Alsip, Ill. Other survivors include; brother-in-laws, Kenneth Weiss of Waukesha, James (Cheryl) Houk of Oconomowoc, sister-in-law, Marian (James) Pastors of West Bend, and Lois Ann (Ralph) Quinney of Ripon, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister Lynn M. Blankley-Weiss in 1975. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 27, 2000 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 5700 Washington Avenue, 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Paul Esser officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, Highway 31. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday at 9:30 until the time of Mass.

Memorials to Childrens Hospital of Milwaukee or to the Salvation Army have been suggested. A very special thank you to Covenant Hospice for their loving care and compassion given to Lois during her time of illness. MARESH-MEREDITH AND ACKLAM FUNERAL HOME 803 Main Street634-7888
