Jeanne DeFurio (Whitehouse)

Jeanne Frances Whitehouse

1941 - 2017

Jeanne Frances Whitehouse (nee De Furio) passed away peacefully on Nov. 12, 2017, at her home in Torrance, Calif. She is preceded in death by father, Dr. Anthony De Furio; mother, Janet De Furio (nee Hager); sister, Mary Englert (nee De Furio); husband John Whitehouse, and husband Harold Rudd.

She is survived by her brothers, Frank De Furio and James De Furio; children Lindsey Galvin (nee Rudd), Carolyn Hammond (nee Rudd), Harold Rudd and Mary Young (nee Rudd), and seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Jeanne was born in Kenosha on June 2, 1941. She graduated from Kenosha's St. Joseph's High School. She raised four wonderful children in Kenosha. Eventually, her interests turned to politics and she relished her time working for the renowned congressman, Les Aspin. She obtained her college degree from University of Wisconsin Parkside, and she turned to teaching for a profession. Life and her love for Mr. Whitehouse brought her to Los Angeles, California where she accepted the challenge of teaching for many years disadvantaged public grade school students in Watts. She lived in England for some time, and loved to travel. Her most recent foreign adventures were solo excursions to Morocco in North Africa, and the Czech Republic.
Jeanne was spunky. She met all challenges head on - never flinching. Her diminutive physical stature was in stark contrast to her enormous courage and determination to live a full life. Her joy and good humor would light up any social gathering.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
