Greetings all members of the St Joes Alumni Association!
It's a new school year and as Bob Freund, president of St Joseph Catholic Academy reports, K-12 enrollment is up 14.2%, with 94 new students. The laptop program has expanded to include all students in grades 6-12. The school year is off to a wonderful start.
What a wonderful time of year for you out of town alumni to plan a trip to Kenosha. Homecoming is just around the corner and if you haven't been to a St Joes' Homecoming in a number of years, this year might just be the one! For us older alumni, no longer are the games played at the Lakefront, but at Alan Ameche Field which is located at 26th Avenue and 87th Street. Kenosha has changed and in many ways, for the better. If you are planning a trip home, be sure to visit http://www.kenoshacvb.com/. It is a great website that will help you find eateries, places to visit and things to do.
The Homecoming weekend festivities will begin on Friday September 23rd.
The students will have an early dismissal and the Parade will begin at 3:30pm followed by the Soccer Game at 4:30pm. Our opponent for the soccer and football games will be Catholic Central.
The Alumni Association will again have an amazing float in the parade. The Parade will line-up on 69th St in front of St Joes, then turn right and proceed down 22nd Ave to Lincoln Road and then to 26th Ave south to Ameche Field.
Float construction will begin on September 19th at 6:30pm at Pauline McTernan's house. Her address is 2017 75th Street. Just think- if you come to help with the float, you will be right next door to The Spot! Need we say more? At 5:30pm on Friday September 23rd, the Alumni Association will hold our third annual Tailgate! This will be between the soccer and the football game. Please consider joining us for some good food and fun. If you would like to volunteer to help, please email Rich Mich at shercookr@yahoo.com. He will put you to work and you will be guaranteed to see lots of familiar faces before the Football Game begins at 7pm.
In other Alumni Association news, our alumni association helped with the Welcome Back Wine and Cheese at St Joes on Friday September 9th at 6:30pm. Most of you have received an invitation to this gathering. Hope that many of you were able to attend.
Our Alumni website has had 20,896 visitors and 880 alumni have created profiles! Wow!
If you visit the website, please create a profile and add a picture of yourself! Also we are looking to have an "Alumnus of the Year". See the website to nominate someone who you think would be deserving.
Thank you for belonging to the association and if you are an annual member, please consider renewing your membership every year or becoming a Lifetime member. It is easy to join on the website and your membership is so important to us.
